Mrs. Gloria Okonba who is the wife of a lecturer with the Federal University Oye Ekiti was said to have brought the girl from Enugu to Ekiti in May, 2023 as a housemaid. Media gathered that immediately she arrived Ekiti, Mrs. Okonba began to abuse her. The 11 years was tortured through beating with various objects, teeth bites and knife for no cause. In December, 2023 during one of her beating episodes, Mrs.Okonba cut the child with a knife and was rushed to hospital by her husband when the bleeding refused to stop. He was arrested for allegedly printing and distributing materials related to the forthcoming nationwide protests. The arrest was shared on X, by Omoyele Sowore, Human rights activist and Convener of the RevolutionNow movement. As plans ahead of the proposed nationwide strike tightens, the Department of State Services (DSS) have remained alert. Sowore has condemned the alleged arrest of Sanusi Aliyu. He immediately called for the release of the boy, describing it as “lawless behavior” by DSS This is happening few days after the arrest and release of Bashir Abubakar by State Service Operatives for his role in the planned nationwide protest against bad governance in Nigeria.

Tragedy In Jos As School Building Collapses Killing Several, Injuring Scores

Activities at Saints Academy and its immediate environment in Busa Buji, Jos North, were disrupted on Friday morning when the school’s two-story building caved in on students and their teachers. The collapse trapped more than 70 pupils, witnesses said, transforming a peaceful educational environment into a scene of chaos. Panicked and desperate residents quickly descended on the scene to provide help as screams for help rent the air. They were joined by emergency workers to battle the rubble to rescue those trapped underneath. So far, 12 people have been pulled out dead while dozens of others injured in the collapse have been rushed to nearby hospitals. Some of those who have been rushed to the hospitals are in urgent need of blood transfusions as the hospitals battle to treat them. However,  the Chairman of the Kaduna State branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Godwin Ochai said the children were released yesterday. He thanked God and everyone who stood by the family. Mansir Hassan, the PPRO of the Kaduna Police Command had earlier confirmed the killing of 14-year-old Victor by the terrorists. Victor was the eldest son of the judge. The terrorists had also released the judge after killing her son but kept the remaining children in captivity. It was, however, not clear how the children were finally released, as family member went silent.

Umahi stated that the emergency road projects, funded through the 2023 supplementary budget, aimed to address the severely deteriorated sections of critical federal roads across the country and restore their serviceability.
