Adam Imam Yusuf, a Deputy Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State has been arrested over allegations of diverting more than N3 billion  public funds.

Yusuf, who had been evading arrest, was apprehended at his residence in Gwagwalada, Abuja. He was arrested by the operatives of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The ICPC’s investigation revealed that the alleged fraud was orchestrated by former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (retired), through Yusuf and former Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum (retired).

The scheme reportedly involved the use of 92 fictitious companies, none of which were registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

According to the ICPC, the diverted funds were traced to entities such as Lahab Integrated and Gate Coast Properties, as well as other affiliated companies.

These funds were allegedly used to acquire over 18 properties, including filling stations.

So far, four of these properties have been forfeited to the federal government, while legal proceedings are ongoing to recover the remaining assets.

In a press release issued on Friday, ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare confirmed that the commission is intensifying efforts to apprehend other suspects still at large.

The ICPC reiterated its commitment to combating graft and ensuring accountability, particularly in cases involving high-ranking officials.
